You can now easily set the width of the modules Left and Right in the Joomla! Administrator. These modules can be found next to your main content body (see the Module Positions page for their location). So not only are these columns fully collapsible (which means that if there are no modules published in particular area, that module position will not appear), but you can also set a custom width for each of them individually.

If you hover over some of the images on this demo, you'll notice a semi-transparent black image caption popping up. These captions can be enabled or disabled on a per image basis (which means no captions on images if you don't want them there). Utilities menu

A utilities menu links to the features that every site needs but which aren't the site's main functions. They might include 'About us', 'Contact us', 'Archive' etc. A module position for this menu is located in the top right corner of the template.

Footer menu

The footer menu is vital for items that need to be on the site, such as the 'Privacy Policy' and 'Terms & Conditions', but which shouldn’t take up the important space at the top of the page. The module position for the footer menu allows users to add a footer menu that looks inviting.

Indivual template styles

Joomla has added an option called 'Template styles'. This option allows you to set a different version of a template for each individual menu item. It is even possible to select an entirely different template for a specific menu item. Of course you don't have to set a different style for each menu item if you don't want to.
